In the December 19, 2012 issue of TakePart.com, reporter Suzi Parker interviews Steve Lee regarding the issue of armed teachers.
Lee’s commentary was: ”There is merit in providing at least a modicum of active shooter and other security-related training for teachers so that in a lethal event they are not inventing ad hoc incident response. Just as Captains for certain commercial airliners are trained in the use of firearms and are duly authorized to carry and use them in the event of terrorist action on board the aircraft under their command, there is something to be said for having a designated individual – or individuals – at a school, trained in the use of lethal force and not only authorized, but also duty bound to protect those in their charge.”
